Dear friends! I am writing to you from beautiful Boston and I just finished reading my new favorite book Essentialism. It is awesome! And my brain is now going a million miles a minute and I had to share.
So, we all know Michael Phelps, the gold medal winning sensation! He is an amazing Olympic athlete that is killing it and just makes it look easy. But you and I both know winning 23 Gold Medals is no way, no how, no where close to being easy.
So how does he do it? How does anyone reach the level of success they are dreaming of! So here’s his secret and it’s the same as what all successful leaders and entrepreneurs do!
Successful people execute daily a routine. That’s it. It’s a simple rhythm. And they do not stray away from it! Leaders make it look simple because it’s something we do over and over again and we don’t even think about it! The book focuses in on three areas. These three areas jumped off the page!! I love this. And I wanted to share with you.
“In an interview about his book The Power of Habit, Charles Duhigg said ‘in the last 15 years, as we’ve learned how habits work and how they can be changed, scientists have explained that every habit is made up of a cue, a routine, and a reward. The cue is a trigger that tells your brain to go into automatic mode and which habit to use. Then there is the routine— the behavior itself—which can be physical or mental or emotional. Finally, there is a reward, which helps your brain figure out if this particular habit is worth remembering for the future. Over time, this loop—cue, routine, reward; cue, routine, reward—becomes more automatic as the cue and reward become neurologically intertwined.’”
There is power when we keep it simple and constant! Many of you already know what to do for your cue, routine and reward. Some of you are now curious as to “What is Mauria talking about?? And how do I find out more”?
Living your dream is possible. It truly is. Michael is living his dream. I along with thousands of others across the globe are living their dream in the you economy. It starts with recognizing the cue and executing your routine. The reward is very real.
